Personal Experience and Insights
On my attempt at this puzzle, I initially thought there was a group related to a card game, so I grouped DRAW, PULL, PASS, and CROSS. However, I quickly realized this was incorrect and abandoned the idea before making further mistakes.
The clue about “MARTINI SPECIFICATIONS” helped me narrow down the groups, leading me to identify the green and yellow categories. It was helpful because I would have struggled to find the fourth member of the purple group after BUZZ, CROSS, and PASS. Today, I learned that a loanword is a word adopted from a foreign language with little or no modification. Some obvious examples include safari, karaoke, and guru, while others like cookie (from Dutch) and cartoon (from Italian) might surprise you.

PURPLE: STARTS OF TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
DON, LEO, MIC, RAP
What Is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of several popular word games developed by the New York Times. The game challenges players to find groups of four items that share a common theme. Each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow is a bit harder, blue is often quite tough, and purple is usually very difficult.
One advantage of the game is that you don’t technically need to solve the final group, as you can deduce it through elimination. Additionally, you can make up to four mistakes, giving you some flexibility.
While it may be more complex than something like Wordle, there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with clever wordplay, homophones, and other tricks. You can play it for free on the NYT Games site, available on desktop or mobile devices.
