Sand was initially set to launch in April with an Early Access release. However, the development team decided to push back the release date to refine the gameplay and ensure the game meets the high standards they’ve promised. Over the past three months, the development progress has significantly accelerated, showcasing a strong commitment to delivering a polished and immersive experience.
The latest update trailer offers a glimpse into what’s coming next for the game. Here’s a detailed look at what the team is currently working on:
- A New Shop System: Players will be able to buy and sell components, weapons, and resources for their expeditions, adding a layer of strategy and customization.
- Enhanced Trampler Customization: Additional compartments and balance adjustments are being introduced, allowing players to tailor their trampers to their playstyle.
- Solo Player Features: New trampler compartments have been designed specifically for solo players, offering unique advantages and flexibility.
- Expanded World Content: More islands, forts, and loot-filled areas are being added, along with hidden treasures and resources for those who enjoy exploring.
- Field Adaptability: Players can now install and uninstall trampler cannons while out in the field, enabling them to adapt their combat style dynamically.
- Quality-Based Weapons and Turrets: Weapons and turrets now come in different quality levels. Lower quality items offer less maneuverability and fewer ammunition options, while higher quality items provide better performance.
- Rare Artifacts: These powerful items can change the battlefield, offering abilities like orbital strikes, anti-reactor guns, deflector shields, and bio emitters.
- Environmental Hazards: Devastating sandstorms will ravage the planet, causing damage and reducing visibility, similar to battle royale mechanics that limit the playable area.
- Fair Loot Distribution: The loot extracted from the world will now be divided among crew members, ensuring everyone gets a fair share.
What is Sand?
SAND is a unique first-person shooter that combines elements of survival, exploration, and combat. Players take on the role of builders and operators of giant walkers known as Tramplers, navigating the post-apocalyptic dunes of a fallen planet. The game allows players to battle rival players, explore vast environments, loot valuable resources, and extract them from the hostile, procedurally generated world.
To effectively traverse this dangerous environment, players must design and deploy their own Tramplers. These massive walking bases serve as shields against the elements, protect players and their loot from other players, and allow for the destruction of anything that stands in the way of becoming the most notorious pirate on the dunes.
