Tennocon 2025: Soulframe Preludes Unveils New Fable, Temporarily Opens Access

Posted on July 19, 2025

Exciting New Developments at Tennocon 2025

As the main day of Tennocon 2025 kicked off, Digital Extremes unveiled some thrilling updates for their upcoming fantasy game, Soulframe. This title is considered the fantasy counterpart to Warframe and has been highly anticipated by fans. One of the most exciting announcements was that access to the pre-alpha program called Preludes would be open during the convention weekend.

Players who had already registered on the game’s official website were granted immediate access. Those who registered by 11:59 PM EST on Sunday, July 20, would also gain instant entry into the Preludes program. They would have access until the game’s full public launch. After that, the Preludes program will revert to its previous waitlist system.

Live Gameplay Demo and Story Progression

The creative team behind Soulframe took the stage at Tennocon to provide an update on the game’s progress and future plans. They also showcased a live gameplay demo that highlighted the game’s evolving mechanics. In the latest episode of Fable, the player’s Envoy embarks on a mission to restore the mighty Omen Beast Bromius, a bear that has been corrupted by the insidious Ode.

The player’s guide on this mission is the Witch Verminia, who made a memorable appearance at last year’s Tennocon. Her return was met with cheers from the audience as she transformed the Envoy’s Sparrow into one of her “poppets.” This beloved sidekick played an unexpected role in the boss fight later in the demo, after the player navigates through a corrupted forest and an underground maze.

Refined Gameplay and New Features

During the demo, Soulframe’s refined gameplay was on full display. A new Magick-based fighting style was demonstrated in a mini-boss fight against the Wazzard of the Wastes, the entity responsible for the forest’s corruption. The demo also briefly showcased multiplayer co-op, with a second player joining to help defeat enemies and overcome environmental challenges.

One of the most anticipated features coming to Soulframe is customized skill progression. Inspired by medieval combat manuals, this new menu system will allow players to mix and match abilities, focusing on either melee or ranged combat, or even more supportive roles. As players specialize and invest in their chosen fighting style, their character will essentially create their own “training manual,” illustrating their skill progression over time.

Character Customization and Future Updates

Customization is also coming to the Envoy’s aesthetics. A future update will introduce eight new hairstyle options for the player character. More styles and other customization options are in development and will be released in the coming months.

Despite being in a pre-alpha stage, the team at Digital Extremes is not yet comfortable opening the game to the general public. However, the influx of Envoys during the Tennocon weekend will help expand their playtesting experience. Each time the game is showcased, it continues to look better and more polished.

Access to Preludes Program

The Soulframe Preludes playtest program is currently available—by invite only, outside of this weekend—on PC. Fans interested in participating should keep an eye on the official channels for updates and opportunities to join the program. Stay tuned for more coverage from Tennocon 2025 as Digital Extremes continues to unveil exciting details about their upcoming titles.
