Unsecured Abandoned Building Becomes Target for Unauthorized Visitors
A group of three youths, reportedly wearing ski masks and balaclavas, have been caught trespassing at an abandoned care home in Portishead, which has been described as “extremely unsafe” by local authorities. The Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that they have received multiple reports regarding unauthorized entry and additional damage to the former Petersfield Elderly Persons Home.
The security system at the building detected movement from the individuals on July 11, prompting immediate concern from the police. The owners of the property have been informed about the incidents and have been advised on appropriate security measures to prevent further access.

“The building is extremely unsafe,” said Sgt. Stride. “Anyone who accesses it is at risk of serious injury or worse. We urge parents to be vigilant and know where their children are. The risks extend beyond the building itself—trying to gain access via rooftops is particularly dangerous.”
He added that the police want to reiterate the importance of avoiding the site altogether. The risks are not limited to the interior of the building but also include the methods used to enter it, such as climbing over structures that may be unstable.
