Drone Commander Predicts War’s End by 2025

Posted on July 20, 2025

Ukraine’s War Likely to Continue Beyond 2025, Says Military Commander

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine is expected to persist well beyond 2025, according to a recent statement from the Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi. His remarks were shared during an interview at the LANDEU international conference in Wiesbaden, Germany, on July 18. Brovdi highlighted the challenges faced by Ukraine and the technological strategies being developed to counter Russian aggression.

Brovdi emphasized that there is currently no indication of a quick resolution to the war. He stated that the full-scale conflict will likely not end in 2025 and may continue for years to come. This prediction comes as he stressed the importance of maintaining a pragmatic approach to the situation. According to him, if the fighting does not continue, many more countries could become involved in the conflict.

Key Threats Facing Ukraine

The commander outlined several major threats that Ukraine must address. The first is the overwhelming manpower of the Russian military, which continues to deploy large numbers of troops to the battlefield. This presents a significant challenge for Ukrainian forces, who are struggling to keep up with the sheer number of enemy soldiers.

Another critical threat is the use of kamikaze drones, such as the Shahed, which have been deployed extensively across the country. These drones target civilian infrastructure and pose a serious risk to both people and property. Brovdi noted that these attacks have caused considerable damage and are a growing concern for Ukraine’s security.

A third challenge is the limited availability of mobilization resources. Brovdi explained that most civilians who are willing to join the Ukrainian army have already done so, making it unlikely that more volunteers will be available in the near future. This means that Ukraine must rely on its existing forces and find innovative ways to sustain the fight.

Technological Advancements and Defense Strategies

Despite these challenges, Brovdi highlighted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively working on new technologies and strategies to counter enemy attacks. One of the key developments is the increased use of automation on the front lines. This includes replacing parts of the infantry with ground-based drones, which can perform dangerous tasks without risking human lives.

Additionally, the military is focusing on creating a deeply layered defense system using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This system aims to provide comprehensive protection against both ground and air threats. Brovdi described this effort as building a “Great Wall of China” to defend Ukraine’s borders and prevent enemy forces from advancing.

Progress and Achievements

Brovdi also provided an update on the performance of the Unmanned Systems Forces. He reported that in June, one in every four enemy soldiers and one in every five enemy targets were hit by units within the newly formed force. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the technology and tactics being used by Ukraine.

These developments indicate that Ukraine is preparing for a prolonged conflict and is investing heavily in next-generation technologies to maintain its defense capabilities. As the war continues, the focus remains on innovation, resilience, and strategic adaptation to counter the evolving threats posed by Russia.
