NASA astronaut Leroy Chiao once claimed he was able to see two of the Great Pyramids of Giza from space. The largest of these pyramids is 750 feet wide, making it significantly larger than the Great Wall. However, no other astronaut has confirmed seeing the wall itself. This suggests that visibility from space depends heavily on factors like lighting, weather, and the observer’s position.
Despite the lack of evidence supporting the idea that the Great Wall is visible from space, the myth continues to circulate. Part of the reason for this is the sheer scale of the structure and the fascination it inspires. People often assume that something so massive must be visible from far away. However, the reality is that many natural and human-made features are much more noticeable from space than the Great Wall.
